Wedding dress shopping is one of the most exciting milestones in the wedding planning process. It's a day filled with celebration, shared with the people you love most, and often the moment your vision for your wedding day truly begins to take shape. Whether you've been dreaming about your gown for years or you're starting with a completely open mind, knowing what to wear to your bridal appointment can help you feel comfortable, confident, and ready to make the most of your experience!
From choosing the right outfit and undergarments, to deciding which shoes and accessories to bring, a little preparation goes a long way! In this guide, we'll walk you through what to wear and what to bring to your wedding dress shopping appointment so you can focus on what matters most: finding a gown you love!
Neutral Undergarments
When trying on wedding dresses, you’ll want to wear undergarments that are neutral to your skin tone + that will show as little as possible. A bra isn’t necessary many wedding dresses contain structural elements, such as boning, padding, corsetry, linings, and interlinings, that make wearing a bra unnecessary. If you do choose to wear one, make sure it’s comfortable + breathable! You may want to consider wearing a pair of silicone covers if that makes you feel more comfortable! While shapewear is not needed or required, feel free to bring it or throw it on under your clothes in preparation for your appointment, if it’ll make you feel the most beautiful or confident throughout the process! If you are planning on wearing shape wear on your wedding day, it’s best to have it with you, so that you can envision and feel the complete look!
Footwear
If you’re planning on wearing heels for the big day, we also recommend bringing your wedding day shoes, or shoes that are similar in height, to your appointment. You’ll be barefoot most of the time, but once you’ve chosen your 2-3 favorite dresses, slip on your wedding shoes to get a better idea what the dress looks like all put together!
Clothing
You are encouraged to wear whatever outfit makes you feel the most beautiful, confident, and comfortable to your bridal appointment! Whether that's a little white dress, jeans + a cute top, or something comfortable + casual, we're here to make your wedding dress shopping experience personal to you. Wear something that you feel confident and beautiful in, because once you say YES, it’s time for a photo-op!
