Weddings are a celebration of love, but they can also come with a hefty environmental footprint. From single-use décor to fast fashion gowns, the industry often prioritizes beauty and aesthetics over sustainability. If you're a bride who cares about making mindful choices without sacrificing style, you’re in luck! Sustainable wedding dress shopping is not only possible—it’s easier and more beautiful than ever. Keep reading to discover why choosing a sample wedding dress is a more sustainable option—and get to know a few designers who incorporate eco-friendly practices throughout their design and production processes.

The fashion industry is the second-highest polluting industry in the world. The production of a special order dress from a traditional boutique requires significant materials, and often results in unnecessary waste during the production process. One of the easiest and most impactful ways to shop sustainably? Buy an off-the-rack wedding dress! Our sample bridal gowns are sold off-the-rack, meaning they’re not made-to-order and don’t require additional resources to produce. You’re giving a gorgeous dress a second life—and skipping the wait time, too!

Another diffusion brand from the Luxe Brands Family is Ohio Bridal Outlet. The outlet was created to lengthen the lifespan of these sample gowns even further. With so many incredible designer gowns needing to be rotated out of inventory or donated, Ohio Bridal Outlet steps in to give them new life—offering stunning dresses from Luxe Redux that have reached the end of their inventory cycle a second chance to shine. All gowns are $999 or under, with a great selection of styles priced below $500! Altogether, opting for a sample wedding dress is an excellent way to feel good about your buying choices, without having to sacrifice style or quality, at an amazing price!

What exactly is a sample wedding dress? A sample wedding dress is a gown that has been used in special order bridal boutiques for try-ons and displays. These dresses have not been worn for a wedding, but they may have been tried on by brides in the store.  Luxe Redux partners with authorized bridal retailers nationwide to curate our exclusive collection of designer sample gowns, all available for 20–90% off retail price and ready to take home the same day you say YES!  These stunning dresses, while still in excellent condition, often need to be cleared out of special order boutiques to make space for new collections and styles.

Like we mentioned above, choosing any sample wedding gown is an eco-friendly option for our brides to be. Some bridal designers are also making sustainability a priority by using organic fabrics, reducing water waste, and producing gowns ethically. Look for labels that are transparent about their materials, production processes, and labor standards. We've outlined a few designers that also put sustainability at the forefront of their businesses, so you can wear your values on your sleeve (literally)!

Jenny Yoo is dedicated to creating beautiful bridalwear with a conscience. Their gowns are produced in facilities that have passed the Workplace Conditions Assessment (WCA), ensuring safe working environments and a strict zero-tolerance policy for child labor. Sustainability is woven into their process, focusing on continuous efforts to reduce environmental impact, with many fabrics made from sustainably sourced yarns. The brand also partners with local organizations, including New York fashion design schools, to recycle and repurpose fabric scraps, giving leftover materials a second life. Jenny Yoo is actively working to minimize their carbon footprint by consolidating shipments, reducing packaging, and shifting toward more localized sourcing. With each step, they reaffirm their belief that every move toward sustainability is a meaningful one.
